BEKASI (September 30th, 2024) – Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf visited Bantar Gebang ntegrated Waste Processing Site (TPST) in Bekasi City on September 30th, 2024. The working visit was conducted to distribute social assistance to vulnerable communities around the Bantar Gebang TPST. In the event, Minister of Social Affairs symbolically handed over assistance to the Acting Mayor of Bekasi in the courtyard of the Sumur Batu Village Office and SDN Sumur Batu II. The assistance provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs for the City of Bekasi amounts to a total value of IDR 650,050,643,833.

The assistance included 2,055 packages of ATENSI assistance consisting of personal protective equipment (helmets, boots, and headlamps) and nutrition for the scavengers. 389 ATENSI packages for basic needs fulfillment in the form of basic food and nutrition, 44 ATENSI units of aids for persons with disabilities (wheelchairs, hearing aids, and adaptive canes), 14 ATENSI entrepreneurship packages such as grocery stores, livestock farming, fisheries, and cake making, 49 packages of sports and educational equipment, Family Hope Program (PKH) assistance for 135,241 Beneficiary Families (KPM) and assistance from the Basic Food Program for 58,051 beneficiaries.

In his speech, Minister of Social Affairs said, “This working visit is not only about distributing assistance but also to ensure that the community around the Bantar Gebang TPST, especially the most vulnerable, receive the attention and assistance they need. We hope this assistance can lighten their burden and improve their quality of life," said the minister.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Siti, a scavenger who received a nutrition package and personal protective equipment, expressed her gratitude, "Praise to God, I am very helped by this assistance. The helmet and shoes provided are very important for my safety while working.  The basic food supplies and nutrition assistance are also very helpful for our family," she said.

In addition to the assistance distribution, the Minister of Social Affairs also looked over the health check-up activities, engaged in dialogue with the beneficiaries, and visited social campaigns for the prevention of bullying and violence. At State Elementary School (SDN) Sumur Batu II, the Minister of Social Affairs distributed sports and educational equipment assistance to the local students.
