BALI (October 16, 2020) - The Ministry of Social Affairs helps meet the basic needs of the community to face the pandemic through various Social Safety Net (JPS) programs.

Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P. Batubara together with the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection I Gusti Ayu Bintang Puspayoga, accompanied the Chair of the Indonesian Parliament (DPR RI), Puan Maharani, who was present in the midst of the Balinese people. He was present on the Island of the Gods to hand over assistance to the Ministry of Social Affairs' Social Safety Net (JPS) program for people affected by COVID-19. Bali is one of the places that is most affected by tourism because the average population works and depends on their daily income from the tourism sector.

"I am here with the Minister of Social Affairs in the context of the supervisory function and synergy between the DPR and the government in order to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. It requires cooperation from all parties. It can't be one by one, it can't be one person, it can't be just one institution. However, how can this mutual cooperation be carried out together? This assistance is for all provinces in Indonesia," said Puan Maharani.

The government through the Ministry of Social Affairs has prepared several JPS programs, including Cash Social Assistance, Non-Cash Food Assistance, Non-PKH Basic Food Program, and Rice Social Assistance Program.

The Minister of Social Affairs, Juliari P. Batubara, delivered the support from the Ministry of Social Affairs in recovering conditions due to the pandemic, in order to maintain the resilience of vulnerable communities. Especially in meeting the needs of daily staple foods.

At the launch of BSB last September, Juliari P. Batubara stated that the BSB program was included in the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program. This BSB program is in collaboration with Perum BULOG as a provider of rice, as well as PT. Bhanda Ghara Mutual and PT. Dos Ni Roha as a transporter.

The arrival of the Chairman of the DPR RI, the Minister of Social Affairs and the Minister of PPPA at the Wantilan / Jaba Pura Hall of Dauh Yeh Cani Village, Abiansemal District, Badung Regency, was welcomed by the Acting Regent of Badung, I Ketut Lihadnyana.

"It is an honor for us, the Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives, to have the opportunity to be present in Badung Regency in the midst of a pandemic situation. We are on behalf of the community and the district government. Badung expresses his deepest gratitude to the Ministry of Social Affairs for all the programs that have been launched for the residents of Badung Regency. And this assistance is very useful and lightens the burden on the community. Thank you and great appreciation for your presence in the midst of society, especially Badung Regency," said I Ketut Lihadnyana.

The impact of the pandemic has been felt by almost all sectors. The spread of the COVID-19 outbreak to remote villages resulted in a sluggish economic sector which greatly affected people's income and purchasing power.

On this occasion, there was also a symbolic handover of Cash Social Assistance (BST), Rice Social Assistance (BSB) and Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) for the basic food program by the Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives accompanied by the Minister of Social Affairs and the Minister of PPPA.

Furthermore, the Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs accompanied by the Director General of Social Empowerment Edi Suharto and his entourage, directly distributed the Rice Social Assistance program to the house of one of the Family Hope Program (PKH) Family Beneficiaries (KPM) who lives in the Abiansemal District.

Ni Ketut Reki (70), an elderly woman and widow with a child with a severe disability, Wayan Yasa Catur (45), did not escape the visit of the Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs.

“I am very grateful to have received assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs for daily needs. Daily rely on the help of relatives, relatives. With the help of BSB, I feel very helpful, the rice is decent, it can be eaten for daily meals," said Wayan Yasa Catur, who was assisted by a PKH companion.

The target of the Rice Social Assistance in Bali Province is 86,566 PKH KPM, or the total amount of rice is around 3,895 tons. The progress of distributing BSB in Bali as of October 15, 2020 has been 100% distributed until the third stage.

We all hope that this COVID-19 will be over soon. So that the wheels of the economy can turn again and support all Indonesian citizens, especially the Bali tourism sector which has become a foreign tourism asset.
