SLEMAN (22 February 2020) - The Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Juliari P. Batubara visited the funeral home of the deceased after the river tracing activity at SMPN 1 Turi Sleman, Yogyakarta.

"First of all, for the victims who died, we are very sad. They are very young children," said Juliari at Puskesmas Turi, Sleman, Saturday (22/2).

The Minister of Social Affairs revealed that his party is very sad, he hopes that the family can endure this ordeal.

On arrival in Sleman, the Minister of Social Affairs rushed to visit the injured victims who were being treated at the Inap Turi Health Center. Furthermore, the Minister of Social Affairs immediately saw the location of the incident, namely the Sempor River.

The visit was continued to the victim's funeral home to convey condolences to the victim's parents.

The first visit was the residence of the family of the late Nur Azizah, whose address is at Wisata Kembang Arum Village, Donokerto, Turi. Then, proceed to visit the residence of the late family. Lathifa Zulfa in Kembang Arum Village RT 4 RW 33, Donokerto, Turi, Sleman Regency.

After the incident, the Ministry of Social Affairs has handed over the heirs compensation for the eight victims who died worth 120 million rupiah. Meanwhile, two other people are still waiting for the results of the search for victims.

"Compensation from the Ministry of Social Affairs, 15 million victims who died. Meanwhile, those who were injured are fully borne by the local government so they can be returned to their respective homes," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

The Minister of Social Affairs said that representing the government, his party was here to see first hand how the disaster was handled.

And also, he continued, his party prayed for the recovery of the children who are still being treated so that they can recover soon, so that they can return to normal and be able to carry out their normal activities.

"And I also heard that there are two (victims) who have not been found. We all pray that they will be found soon and their families will hear the news about their beloved children," said Ari, the Minister's nickname.

The Pramuka river tracing activity carried out by SMPN 1 Turi was attended by 249 grade VII and VIII graders. What is quite unfortunate by various parties is that the implementation of these activities is carried out during the rainy season.

Social Minister Juliari regretted the occurrence of the disaster, which according to him was the negligence of the organizers, so there must still be a party who is responsible.

"Safety must be paid attention to. I heard that you don't wear a helmet, don't wear a life vest, this is very negligent. That's why I said we are sorry, we are grieving, but of course, there must also be an investigation, someone has to be responsible," said Ari. before reporters.

In the future, he added, there should be no more dangerous activities, especially not supported by security equipment. I think that's my message, hopefully it will be obeyed and listened to.

Meanwhile, according to the late mother. Nur Azizah, there was no notification to the parents beforehand.

"I didn't know if there was such an activity, because there was no notification from the school," he said.

During the visit, the Minister of Social Affairs was accompanied by Sleman Regent Sri Purnomo, Director General of Social Rehabilitation Edy Suharto, PSKBA Director Rachmat Koesnadi, Head of Yogyakarta Provincial Social Service, Untung Sukaryadi and Head of Sleman Regency Social Service, Eko Suhardono.

The Ministry of Social Affairs also deployed a trauma healing team to provide psychological services to victims who were traumatized by the incident.

"For victims who are being treated, the Ministry of Social Affairs has provided psychosocial services, trauma healing. Later, if needed, for children who still need trauma healing, we will also provide these services," he concluded.
