JAKARTA (1 October 2019) - Director General of Social Rehabilitation Edi Suharto gave a speech at the Socialization and Coordination of Social Welfare Institutions in the context of the Implementation of PROGRESS for People with Disabilities at the Novotel Hotel, Gajah Mada, Jakarta.

In his remarks Edi Suharto said that this socialization was an important agenda, both vertically and horizontally between the center and the regions to coordinate with each other in providing inclusive services for people with disabilities. Through the PD Progress as the policy direction of the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation, it includes four program components, namely advanced social rehabilitation, social assistance, technical support and accessibility support.

This becomes an integral part of mutual support in efforts to provide professional services in respecting, protecting and fulfilling the rights of persons with disabilities. Edi Suharto also added, "It is no longer possible for each party to walk alone in carrying out its duties. At this time what is needed is mutual cooperation, mutual support, as partners in the effort to fulfill the rights of persons with disabilities through non-cash social assistance."

This activity meeting was held for three days from 31 October-2 November 2019 at the Novotel Jakarta Hotel which was attended by 300 participants consisting of LKS throughout the Province, Social Service Representatives, Assisting Officers for Persons with Disabilities and related units within the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs.
