MAKASSAR (2 August 2021) - After the viral video of the Ministry of Social Affairs official car hitting a cyclist running on social media which was in the spotlight on Wednesday (28/7), the cyclist victim, Wawan, received five million rupiahs from the Ministry of Social Affairs.

 

The Ministry of Social Affairs, represented by the Head of the Sub-Directorate for Handling Natural Disaster Victims, Muhammad Delmi, visited Wawan's residence in South Maricaya Village, Mamajang District, Makassar City. He conveyed the mandate and greetings from the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, to the victims and hoped that Wawan would recover soon so he could return to his normal activities.

 

"The purpose of our visit, apart from staying in touch, also conveying the mandate from Mrs. Risma to hand over the aid of five million rupiahs to Wawan's brother, and his prayers for a speedy recovery," Delmi explained when visiting Wawan's residence, Sunday afternoon (1/8).

 

On the same occasion, Wawan's biological mother, Jumirah, expressed her gratitude for the concern and visit of the Ministry of Social Affairs, especially the Minister of Social Affairs, for the assistance provided, as well as the moral support for her child.

 

"Thank you for coming, thank you Mrs. Risma for the prayers and help," said Jumriah.

 

Wawan said the same thing. He felt grateful for the assistance and support from the Ministry of Social Affairs regarding the incident that happened to him.

 

"Thank God, I'm getting better. Yesterday, I did a CT Scan with the help of friends from the bicycle community, and nothing dangerous was found, only bruises on the body. I also thank you for the visit from representatives of the Ministry of Social Affairs," he said.

 

Previously, the video of the Rescue Tactical Unit (RTU) belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs went viral and spread on social media after being caught by a surveillance camera or 'Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) installed on Jalan Nusantara, Makassar, Wednesday (28/7) morning.

 

From the CCTV footage, the group of cyclists, totaling seven people, was driving on the left side of Jalan Nusantara. However, the RTU car suddenly came from the opposite direction, so a collision was inevitable. As a result, Wawan fell on the asphalt.

 

The car is a State Property (BMN) of the Ministry of Social Affairs which was loaned to the Takalar Regency Social Service in 2017 with No. Pol B 9551 PSD.
