JAKARTA (April 24, 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs is trying to provide comprehensive services to victims of the fire that occurred in Keagungan Village, Tamansari District, West Jakarta.
"According to the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, Mrs. Tri Rismaharini, we must be quick and responsive to meet the needs of victims of the fire disaster that occurred in Keagungan, West Jakarta," said the Director of Social Protection for Social Disaster Victims (PSKBS) of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Sunarti, in Jakarta, Saturday (24/4).
When she received information that there was a fire, Sunarti continued, her party rushed to the location with the PSKBS Directorate team and Peace Pioneers to identify the needs of the victims.
"We are coordinating with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Social Office and related parties to build an operational system for handling victims that can be carried out systematically, quickly, and precisely, according to the needs of victims," she explained.
In the event of the fire that destroyed 198 houses in two RWs in Keagungan Village, Tamansari District, West Jakarta, last Sunday (18/4), the Ministry of Social Affairs served the needs of 401 heads of households (KK) with a total of 1,282 people.
"Every day, we prepare meals for sahur and breaking the fast. Meanwhile, for children and the elderly who are not fasting, we also prepare lunch," said Sunarti.
Psychosocial Support Services
Until the seventh day (Saturday, April 24, 2021) after the fire in Keagungan, the Ministry of Social Affairs continues to serve the basic needs of the victims, including psychological assistance through the Psychosocial Support Service (LDP), which was carried out by Peace Pioneers, for victims whose houses were burned down. especially vulnerable groups, namely the elderly, women and children. LDP was carried out with the aim of bringing back the joy and enthusiasm of the victims.
"We, Peace Pioneers, have started doing Psychosocial Support Services since D+1 or Monday (19/4). We have three LDP targets, our first target is the elderly," said DKI Jakarta Provincial Peace Pioneer, Ramses, Friday (23/4).
For the elderly, said Ramses, he applied the technique of asking and telling stories, along with the butterfly technique. "So, that's a form of calming down, clap the right chest, left chest," he said while demonstrating the movement of the technique in question.
After the elderly category, he seeks to provide LDP to the second target, the mothers. "Many mothers are getting tired. Therefore, let's encourage them so they want to tell stories again," he explained.
Entering the third day (D+3) since the fire occurred or Wednesday (21/4), Ramses stated that the children were starting to feel bored at the shelter.
"Well, here we make relaxation activities. So, first, we made singing activities, then dancing, and so on," said the man who has been a Peace Pioneer volunteer since 2013.
It didn't stop there, he and the other Peace Pioneers also provided children with educational activities wrapped in a fun way.
"On D+4 of the incident, we provide education. So, not just for fun, but there is educational value. We draw pictures, we give English terms, then we sing the national anthem," said Ramses.
As of April 21, 2021, the Ministry of Social Affairs, through the PSKBS Directorate, has distributed assistance worth a total of 292 million rupiah.
"The assistance consists of logistical assistance worth IDR242 million, in the form of 100 sheets of mattresses, 300 sheets of blankets, 401 packages of family kits, 50 packages of kids' ware, and 60 packages of children's food," said Sunarti.
Meanwhile, the assistance of cleaning tools and other supporting tools worth 49.5 million was in the form of brooms, rakes/dustpans, plastic brooms, black trash bags (garbage plastic), floor brushes, shovels, giant forks, buckets, dippers, floor soap and 4 units of misty fans.
