JAKARTA (September 1, 2020) - Ministry of Social Affairs took Special Forces Command to improve disaster management services in Indonesia.

The Minister of Social Affairs, Juliari P. Batubara, explained that the synergy between the Ministry of Social Affairs and Kopassus in dealing with the impact of disasters could accelerate assistance to victims and fulfill the basic needs of evacuees.

"One form of synergy between the Ministry of Social Affairs and Kopassus can be done such as providing assistance in the form of 4 trucks that we gave to Kopassus today," said the Minister of Social Affairs when handing over 4 trucks to Kopassus at the Kopassus Headquarters, Cijantung, East Jakarta, Tuesday (1/9). .

The Ministry of Social Affairs provided 4 units of cars consisting of 2 units of water tank cars with a capacity of 4,000 liters and 2 units of multipurpose trucks worth Rp. 1,273,000,000.

The number of areas that are prone to natural disasters, Juliari said, requires the cooperation of all elements to be able to accelerate the handling and recovery of an area due to a disaster.

The Minister of Social Affairs who was present with the Director General of Social Protection and Security, Pepen Nazaruddin, and the Director of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims (PSKBA), M. Safii Nasution, said that with the cooperation of all elements, we can accelerate the handling of victims and evacuees, including speeding up the process. redevelopment of the area.

The synergy between the Ministry of Social Affairs and Kopassus will be followed up by the PSKBA Directorate by increasing the capacity of Tagana and handling disaster victims throughout Indonesia through Military Operations Other Than War (OMSP).

In addition to synergizing with Kopassus, the Ministry of Social Affairs also continues to develop disaster preparedness areas, namely an area that has a number of Disaster Preparedness Villages.

"The existence of this disaster alert area can provide education to the public, what to do if a disaster occurs. Currently, there are 471 disaster preparedness areas where there are 741 Disaster Preparedness Villages in it," added the former member of the DPR for two periods.

Meanwhile, the Commander General of Kopassus, Major General I Nyoman Cantiasa said he was happy with the cooperation extended by the Ministry of Social Affairs. For this reason, he ordered his staff to follow up on disaster management cooperation so that they can synergize and accelerate handling and assistance to victims.

"We are very happy with this collaboration. This can help us in evacuating and helping victims," ​​explained Nyoman.

Nyoman admitted that he would use the Ministry of Social Affairs’ trucks to serve flood disasters in DKI and surrounding areas. "It's going to be the rainy season soon, so we have 4 trucks ready in DKI," he added.

The collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs, explained Nyoman, began with his meeting with Juliari at the disaster site and continued with intensive discussions regarding disaster management in the country.

"From the results of the discussion, we agreed to jointly provide maximum service to the people who were victims of the disaster," concluded Nyoman.
