JAKARTA (15 October 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs appreciates the
success of the Powerlifting Athlete, Ni Nengah Widiasih, who appeared in the
women's 41 kg class to win a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
Award for Achievement Persons with Disabilities
from the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini in the form of a Training
Certification savings of Rp. 20,000,000,-. Director of Social Rehabilitation
for Persons with Disabilities, Eva Rahmi Kasim representing the Ministry of
Social Affairs, handed over directly to Ni Nengah Widiasih.
This 28-year-old female athlete from Bali won a
silver medal from the weightlifting branch at the Tokyo International Forum.
This Paralympic performance is the third time for Ni Nengah Widiasih, she
managed to improve her ranking and achievements by recording the best force of
98 kg.
"I am happy and proud to represent Indonesia because at the Tokyo Paralympic I was able to improve my ranking and
achievements. So, I am very proud to be able to fly the red and white flag at
the Paralympic event," said Ni Nengah Widiasih.
Ni Nengah Widiasih hopes that in the future,
friends with disabilities can be more independent and dare to show themselves
to achieve all their dreams. "Therefore, the most important thing is never
to give up and have to believe in ourselves as long as we want to work hard and
try then nothing is impossible," she said.
Since the age of 3, Ni Nengah Widiasih has used a
wheelchair because she was diagnosed with polio which caused her legs to not be
able to walk normally.
Eva Rahmi Kasim expressed her pride in Ni Nengah
Widiasih for her perseverance and consistency in the activities carried out in
weight lifting.
"The Ministry of Social Affairs is certainly
proud of Ni Nengah's achievements. Even with a wheelchair, she can become one
of the female weight lifters for this Paralympics. Through the training
process, consistency and discipline to focus on goals and Widi has proven that
she can achieve this success," said the Director of Social Rehabilitation
for Persons with Disabilities.
"Congratulations Ni Nengah Widiasih, keep up
the good work and inspire," added Eva.
In addition to assisting in the form of training
certification savings in the amount of Rp. 20 million, the Ministry of Social
Affairs also gave a Certificate of Appreciation to Ni Nengah Widiasih to
motivate her to continue to excel.
