GARUT (11
November 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs has established
two social granaries in Sukarame District, Garut Regency, after the flash flood
hit two villages in Sukailah Village, Sukarame District, Garut.
This is following the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri
Rismaharini, who instructed the establishment of social granaries in
disaster-prone areas.
"As
directed by the Minister of Social Affairs, for villages or disaster-prone
locations, social granaries should be established," Social Minister
Risma's message conveyed by the Head of the Sub-Directorate of Social Recovery
and Strengthening, Faisal, when distributing aid in Sukalilah Village, Garut,
Thursday (11/01/2020). 11).
And
coincidentally, said Faisal, from the survey results, two points have been determined,
"First, in the Sukaresmi sub-district and second, at the Sukailah Village
Office," he said.
According to
him, the social granaries will soon be supplied with logistical needs.
"The plan is that today, we will supply the logistics materials. Meanwhile,
in the sub-districts, preparations may be needed," he added.
Citing the
Social Minister's directive, Faisal stated, the establishment of a social
granary is intended as anticipation if a disaster occurs anytime,
residents will still have their food needs met.
The social
granary will be filled with various logistical needs that are needed by
residents in the event of a disaster, including food and fuel oil.
Distribution
of Aid for Affected People
Flash floods
hit the Sukaresmi sub-district, Garut Regency on Saturday (6/11), at around 04.
30 pm.
According to
the information gathered, the flash floods that occurred in two villages,
namely Pelag and Cilegong, Sukalilah Village, Sukaresmi District, caused 1
house to be heavily damaged, 1 moderately damaged, and 3 lightly damaged, and
the bridge was cut off. The victims who were directly affected were 8 families
or 21 people.
In response
to the incident, the Ministry of Social Affairs distributed aid in the form of
5 red rolled tents, 10 mattresses, 10 packages of children's food, 10 packages
of kids ware, 5 packages of foodware, 2 packages of mattresses, 5 packages of
family kitchen utensils, and 4 packages of children's toys.
Admitting that he was sad to know that a number of his residents were affected by flash floods, the Head of Sukailah Village, Asep Haris, who accompanied the 8 families to receive the assistance, expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Social Affairs.
