PANDEGLANG (January 21, 2022) - Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) carried out a specific working visit to Pandeglang Regency, Banten. During the visit, there were also parties from the Ministry of Social Affairs and the National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) to discuss post-earthquake management with the Regent of Pandeglang, Irna Narulita, and the ranks of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) at the Pandeglang Regent's Office, Friday (21/1).

One of the Ministry of Social Affairs' programs for disaster management is to establish buffer stock in locations that are considered disaster-prone.

Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII DPR RI, TB. Ace Hasan Syadzily, as the team leader, said that the buffer stock prepared by the Ministry of Social Affairs was a form of disaster mitigation.

"Buffer stock is intended to bring logistics closer so that when a disaster occurs, it can be handled immediately," said Ace in Pandeglang, Friday (21/1).

Commission VIII of the DPR RI also handed over assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs to the Regent of Pandeglang in the form of logistics for buffer stock and 500 food packages worth more than Rp. 249 million.

The Director General of Social Protection and Security at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Pepen Nazaruddin, explained the components in buffer stock, namely main tents, family tents, cooking utensils, logistical assistance, food, including water sanitation.

"This will all be in the barn later. So, when a disaster occurs, it can be built like this. At least a day or two, the affected residents can survive, because there is a buffer stock. That's the purpose of the Minister to distribute it," said Pepen.

Buffer stock was established based on the mapping carried out by the Regional Government based on the potential for disaster vulnerability.

So, he continued, the buffer stock does not have to be representative, it does not have to represent the region, depending on the vulnerable area.
