Commission VIII DPR RI Visits Semarang Flood Victims
SEMARANG (February 15, 2021) - Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, led by Deputy Chair Diah Pitaloka, accompanied by the Director of Social Protection for Social Disaster Victims (PSKBS) of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Sunarti carried out a Working Visit to Central Java Province, Monday (15/2).
The presence of Diah and her entourage was warmly welcomed by the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo. In front of the Governor, Diah said that the working visit was carried out in order to carry out one of the functions of the DPR RI, namely the supervisory function.
"This is intended so that Commission VIII of the DPR RI can see firsthand the condition of the community and various problems related to the field of work of the commission in the regions," said the Deputy Chair of Commission VIII from the PDIP Fraction for the West Java III electoral district.
In addition, he continued, the presence of working partners during the working visit of Commission VIII DPR RI is also expected to facilitate and accelerate responses and provide solutions to social welfare problems found in the field.
After meeting with the Governor of Central Java, the Head of the Regional Office (Kakanwil) for Religion, the Head of the Social Office (Kadinsos), the Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and the Head of the Office for Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (Kadin PPPA) of Central Java Province, the group headed to main post for flood disaster in Semarang City to deliver various aids for flood victims in Semarang City area.

Furthermore, at the BPBD Office of Central Java Province, Deputy Chairperson of Commission VIII Diah Pitaloka and her entourage handed over disaster relief assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs for Kudus and Pati Regencies worth IDR 272,784,600 in the form of ready-to-eat food, children's food, blankets, mattresses, mattresses and kids ware. .
At least, the Ministry of Social Affairs has distributed a number of aids for disaster victims in the Central Java region worth a total of IDR 2,562,698,560.
"The first aid was handed over directly by the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini in the amount of Rp.2,309,933,960, while the second aid was handed over by Commission VIII of the DPR RI through Deputy Chair Diah Pitaloka in the amount of IDR 252,464,600," said Sunarti.
During the visit, there was an additional delivery of social assistance (bansos) for the City of Semarang amounting to IDR 80,855,891; for Kudus Regency, IDR 126,382,300; for Pati Regency, IDR 126,382,300; and assistance for the Elderly of IDR 43,000,000.
The aids distributed were in the form of various logistical needs and condolences for the heirs whose family members died due to the flood disaster.
