SURAKARTA (OCTOBER 31, 2021) - Indonesia is one of the countries with a high
level of disaster risk. To encourage community preparedness in dealing
with natural disasters, Ministry of Social Affairs confirmed Pajang Village,
Laweyan District, Central Java Province as a Disaster Preparedness Village
(KSB). This inauguration was carried out by the Mayor of Surakarta who was
represented by the Surakarta City Government and People's Welfare Government Assistant,
Tamso, and was attended directly by Acting Director General of Social Protection
and Security, Ministry of Social Affairs, Robben Rico.
The inauguration is intended for the community to
have sensitivity and ability to minimize the impact of natural disasters in
their respective areas and surroundings by being encouraged by the placement of
Social Granaries to meet needs when natural disasters occur.
Delivered by Acting Director General of Social
Protection and Social Security, the purpose of forming KSB and Social Granary
is to speed up time and access so that people can be alert and responsive when
natural disasters occur.
"At a minimum, it is important for the
community to understand how to act when a disaster occurs, starting from
pre-disaster, disaster, and post-disaster," Robben said.
In addition, the inauguration activity was
accompanied by a Disaster Management SOP Simulation as well as the delivery of
logistical assistance (fill in the social granary) worth IDR 202,154,810.
Also attending were the Director of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims, Iyan Kusmadiana, the Head of Social Office of Surakarta City, Agus Santoso, and the Head of the Social Protection and Social Office of the Central Java Province, Sarjimo.
