Grace Batubara Goes to Scavengers Village to Distribute Basic Food
BEKASI (May 21, 2020) - To reach lower class citizens, today (21/5) the wife of the Minister of Social Affairs, Grace Batubara, handed over basic food assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs in RW 05 of 'Kampung Pemulung', Ciketing Udik Village, Bantar Gebang, Bekasi City. Without feeling uncomfortable with the pungent smell from the pile of rubbish, Grace walked through the village to hand over 700 packages of basic food and had a dialogue with the residents.
To Grace, the residents shared their complaints because junk goods from scavenging did not sell due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, many residents now have no income. However, residents are grateful that basic food assistance from the central and provincial governments has arrived four times.
