JAKARTA (10 November 2021) – The Ministry of Social Affairs invites the entire community to defeat the common enemy such as poverty and ignorance. This is in line with the theme of Hero's Day 2021 'My Hero My Inspiration' where the Ministry of Social Affairs carries out a historic mission.

"The spirit, determination, and belief of the heroes, should be able to inspire and move all of us to carry out the historic mission of defeating the real common enemy--poverty and ignorance--- in the broadest sense," said Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini in the Hero's Day Commemoration which was read by the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini. Director General of Social Protection and Security, Pepen Nazaruddin, as a Ceremony Supervisor on the main page of the Ministry of Social Affairs office, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/11).

In front of the limited number of employees, Pepen emphasized that everyone has great potential in winning the war against poverty and ignorance.

"Because Indonesia has abundant natural resources and a strategic geographical location. The biggest challenge faced is the need for continuous hard work supported by innovation and high creativity, as well as an unyielding entrepreneurial spirit," he continued.

This unyielding spirit, said Pepen, must be absorbed and preserved as a nation in facing any challenges and threats because we are the biological children and grandchildren of the National Heroes.

According to him, in the next 20 years (2020-2040), Indonesia will enter a "demographic bonus", which is a period where the dependency ratio reaches a minimum.

"In this period, there will be more productive workers who are useful to win the war against poverty and ignorance," he said.

For this reason, through the momentum to commemorate Heroes' Day in 2021, Social Minister Risma, in her mandate, asks all of them to use heroic values as inspiration at every step full of innovation and creativity.

“Everyone can be a hero in any field. It's as simple as starting by becoming a hero for the economy of his family and community. We and the heroes, of course, want our children to be winners. Nothing is impossible, as long as we are willing and trying," said Pepen conveying the message from Social Minister Risma.

As a form of respect for the services and sacrifices of the heroes who have defended the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), in a series of ceremonies, a moment of silence was held simultaneously for 60 seconds at 08.15 local time.
