JAKARTA (May 3, 2020) - Some were crying, some distributed food supplies to the neighbors who had not received it yet.

Those were some of the reactions of the residents of Kelurahan Srengseng, Kecamatan Kembangan, West Jakarta, when they received basic necessities that was delivered directly by the Social Affairs Minister, Juliari P. Batubara, Sunday (3/5).

The Minister of Social Affairs visited several areas in DKI Jakarta today, to find out firsthand the distribution of food supplies to 1.3 families in DKI Jakarta.

“If there are residents or neighbors who haven’t received the social aid at all since yesterday, the rice is 5 kilos each, is it okay to share a little with your neighbors?” asked the Minister to one of the residents he met to distribute food supplies.

Tariah, the resident of RT 05 RW 06, spontaneously answered, “I already gave my social aid to Bu RT so it can be distributed to those who haven’t received it yet. When I get another one, I have told Bu RT so it can be distributed again,”

Tariah confessed that she did it sincerely, “I did it sincerely, please share it with those who haven’t received the aid yet so it can be enjoyed together.”

The Social Affairs Minister also assured the media that this was not a set scenario.

“See, the media heard it themselves, it wasn’t staged, I have never been here, it wasn’t staged,” said Ari.

Wih his millenial style, Ari emphasized to the media that he had never met Mrs. Tariah before.

“I’ve never been here, have I, ma’am?” the Minister asked.

Tariah then answered honestly that she did not know Juliari.

“No, I don’t know you,” she said, greeted by laughter from the media crew.

This middle-aged woman said that besides her, there are still neighbors who need food supplies.

“Hopefully in the future the system will be even better,” she hoped.

Crying Over Receiving Food Supplies

Meanwhile, at a different place, one of the neighbors who received food supplies assistance, Wiwik, admitted that she was very happy.

She said that her husband who works as a construction worker was no longer working so there was no income.

There was no income at all, my husband was a construction worker, I am a housewife, I don’t work, unemployed, I have no income at all, I don’t even have 1000 (rupiah),” said this mother of two.

She cried when she received food supplies that was handed over directly by the Social Affairs Minister.

“With the help, I am very happy. I am crying not because I am sad, but because I am happy,” she said, wiping away her tears.
