Minister of Social Affairs Risma Gives Public Lecture at ITS

SURABAYA (March 8, 2023) - The Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini gave a public lecture to the academic community of the Ten November Institute of Technology (ITS), at the ITS Research Center Building on Wednesday (8/3). The public lecture took the theme "Technology for a Better Life for Citizens of the Nation and for an Increasingly Advanced Indonesia". This theme was taken on the basis of the collaborative vision of the Ministry of Social Affairs and ITS which applies technology in an effort to empower vulnerable groups towards prosperity and independence.

On this occasion, the Minister of Social Affairs Risma also gave awards to ITS lecturers, alumni, employees, and students who had contributed to the Ministry of Social Affairs programs. The Ministry of Social Affairs has collaborated with ITS in creating and developing innovations that provide convenience for vulnerable groups in empowering efforts to achieve prosperity. Some of them include the construction of fiber boats, electric trail motorbikes for the transportation of goods, earthquake-resistant houses, solar cells, and powerhouses, and exploring the development of micro-hydro and communal stoves.

Apart from giving awards, Social Minister Risma also received the Nitisastro Figure award from ITS. This award on behalf of the founder of ITS was given to the Minister of Social Affairs for his contribution to nation-building.

The event was also intended by ITS Chancellor Mochamad Ashari, Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs Harry Hikmat, Chairperson of the ITS Academic Senate Syafsir Akhlus, SKM for Communication and Mass Media Don Rozano Sigit Prakoeswa, SKM for the Need for Social Welfare Services and Potential Social Welfare Resources Luhur Budijarso Lulu, SKM for Resource Development Ministry of Human Resources and Programs Suhadi Lili, SKM in the Empowerment and Handling of the Poor Doddi Madya Judanto, Business Director of PT Pos Indonesia along with the ITS Deputy Chancellor and Academic Community.
