Minister of Social Affairs Urges to Build the Country and Cares for Remote Indigenous Community

Building the Nation, Caring about the Remote Indigenous Communities".
The problems faced by Remote Indigenous Communities are inseparable from human rights issues, the issue of marginalization, fulfillment of basic needs, and so on. This is what makes the Ministry of Social Affairs want to invite the business community, NGOs and Social Organizations to raise awareness and be able to play an active role in the empowerment of remote indigenous communities.
"We, the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs really want, especially the private sector, private companies, and state-owned corporation to be able to intervene and to carry out empowerment which is certainly right on target with their respective abilities," said the Minister.
Butet Manurung, one of the activists who has been involved in promoting remote indigenous communities for almost 12 years, said that those remote indigenous communities need programs that are long-term in nature and do not provide a cultural shock. The need for programs that can strengthen education and technology to improve the lives of remote indigenous community members.
The Minister of Social Affairs said that the social empowerment program for KAT residents was not only to improve the economy but also to build a more advanced civilization.
In addition, Director General of Social Empowerment Pepen Nazaruddin said that this event it expected to open the information about empowerment needs in KAT locations and then it would become a joint agenda to resolve the problems. (OHH Dayasos)
