Minister of Social Affairs Juliari: Kemensos Has to Work Fast and Responsive

JAKARTA (October 24, 2019) - The Ministry of Social Affairs held the handover of the position of Minister of Social Affairs from Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita to his successor, Juliari P. Batubara. Minister of Social Affairs Juliari invites all employees to work quickly to implement the program.

"The Ministry of Social Affairs has to work quickly and responsively. This is a challenge in itself," said Juliari.

"Disasters have to respond to immediately, programs must be right on target because this involves a large fund where the Ministry of Social Affairs' APBN is among the fifth largest. This is not an easy job for me to continue this good performance", he explained in front of the invited guests present at the handover ceremony for the position of Minister of Social Affairs.

Furthermore, he delivered the results of the inaugural cabinet meeting where the President conveyed several important points including how the focus of the cabinet was on job creation and building superior Indonesian human resources.

"These are long-term targets or goals, but it is very important for us to form a solid foundation from now on. We must also ensure that poverty in Indonesia is increasingly more pressing in the future," he asked for his employees.

In the remaining two-month budget year, Juliari invited all levels of the Ministry of Social Affairs to focus on budget absorption. "If I look at the budgeting side, it is quite good because it is already focused on activities and programs. Regarding the remaining time which is less than two months, I suggest to focus on both absorption and existing activities so that it is not complicated at administrative matters," he pleaded.

Meanwhile, the previous Minister of Social Affairs who is now appointed as Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, claimed to believe that the Ministry of Social Affairs would be much better under the leadership of Juliari P. Batubara.

"We give our full support to Mas Ari. I am sure that Mas Ari is capable. He can work well and become a Social Minister who is much more powerful than me," he said.

Agus said that the President gave high appreciation to the work performance of the Ministry of Social Affairs. "This is a collective achievement, not only because of the performance of the Minister itself nor certain parties. However, this is the work result achieved by a strong and solid teamwork Kemensos has," he said.
