LUMAJANG (April 13, 2021) - The Ministry of Social
Affairs Officials went to the locations affected by the earthquake in Lumajang
Regency to ensure that the basic needs of affected residents are met.
The assistance provided
by the Ministry of Social Affairs for the earthquake disaster in East Java
Province, including Malang and Lumajang Regencies, has reached IDR
1,145,203,400.
Director General of
Social Security and Protection, Pepen Nazaruddin, said that the Ministry of
Social Affairs continues to strive to meet the basic needs of disaster victims.
"Of course, we, from
the Ministry of Social Affairs, continue to strive to meet the basic needs of
disaster victims, especially staple food," said Pepen at the Kaliuling
Village Hall, Tempursari, Lumajang, Monday (12/4).
The staple food needs,
said Pepen, were realized through public kitchen posts that prepared
ready-to-eat meals and logistical assistance distributed by Tagana.
Besides, Pepen added,
the Ministry of Social Affairs has also established evacuation posts in two
affected districts, namely Malang and Lumajang.
"The locations
chosen by the Minister of Social Affairs for the evacuation of residents
affected by the earthquake are Taman Asri Village Field in Ampelgading District
for Malang Regency and Kaliuling Village Field in Tempursari District for
Lumajang Regency," he explained.
However, following the
instructions of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, on her visit
on Sunday (11/4), Pepen conveyed that the Ministry of Social Affairs will add
refugee posts at several other points.
"Furthermore, we
will add evacuation posts at other points around other affected
locations," he said.
According to him, the
addition of evacuation tents was intended to reach residents with locations
that were severely affected but far away and did not want to evacuate to the
main post because they were reluctant to leave their debris and belongings
outside their homes.
"On average, people are still living in the vicinity of their homes because they guard the building materials, along with all the household furniture that are still scattered in the yard. The case is someone has fled to the shelter or not, at least we have prepared tents that are ready to be occupied at any time when people need it," he explained.
