President: Prevent Stunting, PKH Social Aid for Pregnant Women and Toddler

CIMAHI (January 29, 2020) – President Joko Widodo said the government raised the social assistance index of Family Hope Program Assistance Program PKH (Family Hope Program) for pregnant women and early childhood from Rp2.4 million to Rp3 million/year for stunting prevention.

"The most important thing in the condition of pregnant women, children who are in the womb do not forget the nutrition.If the mother has a toddler child also do not forget the nutrition," said the President while monitoring the submission of PKH (Family Hope Program) Tahap I in Rajawali Square, Cimahi City, West Java Province, Wednesday.

The president exemplified toddlers should get nutritious foods such as eggs, fish, meat, vegetables and fruit.

"If you have a toddler, give the eggs to your child first. Don't give it to your husband" said the President while being greeted by laughter from the mothers of KPM (Family Beneficiaries) PKH (Family Hope Program).

Nutrition matters, the President continued, should not be forgotten. If the child's nutrition is fulfilled then the children grow up healthy and can excel in school.

"Good nutrition for pregnant women and early childhood will also prevent stunting," said the President.

Furthermore, the President also reminded the importance of immunization for PKH (Family Beneficiaries) KPM (Hope Family Program) who have babies and toddlers.Immunization is very important to boost the immune system so as to avoid disease.

"Immunization is important. Because it will prevent our children from illness" he said.

Previously, the Minister of Social Affairs, Juliari P.Batubara when delivering a report before the President explained in 2020 pkh policy is directed to the fulfillment of nutrients that are expected to support the national program of stunting prevention.This is as stated in the Government's vision and mission in the RPJMN (National Medium Term Development Plan) 2019 - 2024.

“Therefore, the Ministry of Social affairs has made improvements to the quality of the program and include activities related to the prevention of stunting through the PKH (Family Hope Program), as well as customize the policy through an increase in the index of social aid,” he explained.

The presence of the President was accompanied by the Minister of Social Affairs in the City of Cimahi is to literally take a look at directly the process of submission of social assistance PKH  Bandung area, Ray. Activity centered Field day Eagle, Street Gatot Subroto, Cimahi. As many as 2,500 KPM were present from the City of Cimahi (of 1,200 KPM), the City of the Airport (500 KPM), the District of West Bandung (500 KPM), and County Airport (300 KPM). There are also 145 human resources PKH each of Cimahi 44 persons, City Airport 30 persons, District of West Bandung 30 persons, the County Airport 40 persons, and one perons of the Coordinator of the West Java Area.

Total PKH aid Phase I disbursed amounting to Rp172 billion for the Cimahi City, Bandung City, Bandung Regency and West Bandung Regency.

The minister of social affairs revealed up to 17 January 2020 the Ministry of social affairs has disbursed PKH worth Rp7 trillion, or 24 percent of the total budget PKH 2020, namely to Rp29.3 trillion.
