The Operator of the Family Hope Program Empowers the Underprivileged

BIMA (5 July 2020) – "In addition to working full time at the Family Hope Program (PKH), I run a laundry business. There are four PKH recipients in Bima who are employees there," said Yudhi Rosyadi, an Operator (Operator, the former term---now changed its name to the PKH Database Administration (APD)) Bima Regency with a smile.

Being part of PKH's Human Resources (HR) does not necessarily make Yudhi complacent. He has built a laundry business since 2016 with the reason that he was knocked on his heart to practice empowerment of Beneficiary Families (KPM) so that they do not depend on conditional non-cash assistance received.

“I want them not to rely solely on PKH assistance. They must be involved in productive activities in order to have independent income to improve their family's standard of living,” explained Yudhi, explaining his motives when starting the business.

This frizzy-haired man mentioned the PKH recipients who are now his laundry employees named Junari, Sarafiah, Ferawati and Nuraini. The four of them started working in 2017. Since then, they have earned income and can use it to support their family's economic needs.

“Since officially becoming employees, they have received a basic salary of 1 million/month. In addition, they get a meal allowance of 10 thousand/day, and even receive an incentive of 200 thousand every two months,” said this STIA Mataram alumni.

He claimed that he initially recruited KPM because he saw the poor economic conditions of the four. For a long time struggling with social problems at PKH and reluctant to see KPM just sitting around waiting for government assistance, he then made an offer to become an employee in the business he was running.

“Positive activity motivation must exist for those who are economically powerless, so that there is a desire to change themselves and rise from adversity. Social assistance is not an inheritance,” explained Rostina's husband.

Furthermore, the man born in '82 urged PKH recipients to be independent. Moreover, he reminded, PKH is conditional assistance with certain types of components. If the component does not meet the requirements, then the KPM must be ready to accept the fact that it is no longer possible to receive social assistance.

On the other hand, if they are financially capable, KPM must also be ready to withdraw from PKH participation and no longer receive social assistance. For this reason, all anticipations to 'patch up' the family economy must immediately find a way out.

"Yes, at least like this, you can do activities and get results. Don't be ashamed to do anything, be ashamed if you only hope for government assistance. What changes us, not other people, but ourselves," Yudhi motivated the four KPMs who are now employees.

Getting to know the PKH Operator from Bima City

Yudhi was a PKH graduate in 2011 with Operator qualifications in PKH HR recruitment at that time. Because of his tenacity in electronics and computerized management, he became the mainstay of PKH's HR in the Management Information System (SIM) and Determination Division.

Four years ago, he started a laundry service business. The business he is engaged in is located at Jl. Gajah Mada Lingk. Nusantara RT 009/RW 004 Monggonao Village, Mpunda District, Bima City received a license under the name 'Laundry 88 Bima City'.

Every day, he uses his time to manage his business after completing his duties and obligations at PKH. He said that before COVID-19, initially there were 6 employees. However, due to the pandemic conditions, two of the employees were temporarily rested.

“The two employees who were laid off earlier, their rights as employees were not reduced. Meanwhile, I will keep the four KPM PKH employees," said Yudhi.

Prior to COVID-19, he continued, he was able to earn an income of 13 million to 16 million rupiah every month. Currently, he said, the income from his laundry business ranges from 10 million to 12 million rupiah.
