JAKARTA (November 29, 2024) - Vice Minister of Social Affairs (Wamensos) Agus Jabo Priyono held an audience with the Executive Board of the Indonesian Muslim Student Union (PB SEMMI) in Jakarta (11/29). The discussion included proposals for national heroes' names and transparency of budget allocation.

PB SEMMI proposed Sarekat Islam figures, Abdoel Moethalib Sangadji and Arudjikartawinata, as national heroes. According to them, the contributions of these two figures are extraordinary, although Arudjikartawinata's historical traces are mostly found abroad. A seminar and book about this figure to be launched soon.

In addition, PB SEMMI proposed the formation of a task force (Satgas) for budget supervision for public transparency. Responding to the proposal, Agus explained that the Ministry of Social Affairs and related agencies are compiling single data through collaboration with BPS and Bappenas. This data will be a reference in distributing social assistance in a targeted manner.

Agus also emphasized that the process of proposing national heroes' names needs to be carried out at the regional level before being forwarded by the Ministry of Social Affairs to the President. This hearing affirmed the Ministry of Social Affairs' commitment to budget transparency and recognition of historical figures.
