CIANJUR (December 10, 2024) – Vice Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono visited the temporary evacuation site at the PGRI Building in Tanggeung Village, Cianjur Regency, West Java, to assist locals affected by landslides and land shifts on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. He provided psychosocial support services, compensation for heirs, and logistical aid valued at IDR 999,735,100.
During the visit, the Vice Minister greeted and shook hands with each evacuee ensuring their needs were properly addressed.
"I came here to ensure that all of you are doing well and are comfortable at the temporary shelter," Agus Jabo stated during the visit.
He asked the evacuees to be patient with the current situation and to remain alert due to the heavy rainfall. "The most important thing is to wait until the situation is safe," Agus Jabo added.
He noted that once the emergency response phase is completed, the government would outline the next steps, including disaster mitigation efforts and addressing damaged homes.
“We will make a record of the damage. We will assess how many houses are affected. We will discuss this with the relevant agencies," he said.
During his visit, Agus Jabo distributed milk and toys to the children at the evacuation site.
The Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) helped victims of floods, landslides, and land shifts through numerous relief programs. The overall value of psychosocial support services (LDP) provided to affected residents, primarily children and the elderly, was IDR 17,550,000.
MoSA compensated the heirs of the deceased with IDR 15,000,000 each. Ai Saraswati (17), a resident of Kampung Rawa Jambu, Rt 001 Rw 005, Sukamahi Village, Cijati District, Cianjur Regency, was among the deceased victims.
In addition, MoSA provided logistical aid worth IDR 887,185,100. The relief comprised 3,000 ready-to-eat food packages, 400 mattresses, 400 blankets, 300 family kits, and 300 children's items.
Other supplies included 100 roll-up tents, 10 portable family tents, two multifunctional tents, 200 children's clothes, and 300 adult clothing packages.
