JAKARTA (September 21, 2021) - The Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, attended the Working Meeting with Committee III of the Regional House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI). The activity was carried out in Building B DPD RI, South Jakarta. In the meeting, the Minister of Social Affairs conveyed two approaches in dealing with poverty, namely by increasing income and reducing expenditure. "Then there are two approaches to accelerate poverty reduction, in increasing income and then reducing expenditure," said the Minister of Social Affairs to the meeting participants (21/9).

 

In a meeting chaired by the Deputy Chairperson of Committee III DPD RI, Evi Apita Maya, the Minister of Social Affairs said that in increasing income for poverty alleviation, there are several ways, namely providing access to the world of work and doing entrepreneurship. "So, increasing the program's income is how we access the world of work, then the economic heroes, entrepreneurship, ATENSI creation center, and empowerment for persons with disabilities," explained the Minister of Social Affairs.

 

Concerning reducing spending on poverty alleviation, Ministers of Social Affairs explained that by providing social assistance for Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT)/Sembako Program which covers basic needs, where in the future the distribution will use a more effective and efficient system. "God willing, we will make a card-free distribution approach, now there are cell phones, there is biometrics our population data will match, it means we have data of beneficiaries," said the Minister of Social Affairs.

 

Present on the occasion were the Chair of Committee III DPD RI, Sylviana Murni, Special Staff to the Minister of Social Affairs for Communication and Mass Media, Don Rozano Sigit, Special Staff to the Minister of Social Affairs for the Social Welfare Service Recipients and Potential Resources for Social Welfare, Luhur Budijarso Lulu, Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Hartono Laras, Director General of Poverty Handling (PFM), Asep Sasa Purnama, Secretary of the Directorate General of PFM, Beni Sujanto, as well as meeting participants who attended directly or virtually.
