TABANAN (August 22, 2021) - The Ministry of Social
Affairs through Social Rehabilitation Center “Mahatmiya” Bali responded to the
case of the Konelia Elshaddai Foundation which is a house for persons with visual sensory
disabilities, orphans, and underprivileged children who had gone viral on social
media some time ago due to difficulties surviving in the midst of Covid-19
pandemic.
At the direction of the
Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, Mahatmiya Center visited the
Konelia Elshaddai Foundation to verify the truth of the news.
Head of Mahatmiya, Sutiono,
Head of Subdivision of Administration, Syahrunnadlir, and Head of Section for
Social Rehabilitation Services, Herlin Wahyuni Hidayat immediately went down
to the Foundation which handles 19 Social Welfare Service Recipients (PPKS),
namely 5 persons with visual sensory disabilities, 4 orphans, and 11 poor children.
From the rapid assessment
carried out, so far the foundation has relied on donations from the surrounding
community. However, since the pandemic, public donations have begun to decline
and have been exacerbated by the implementation of the Java-Bali emergency
Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).
