CIREBON (March 20, 2023) - Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini visited Cirebon Regency this morning to provide reinforcement and assistance to victims and mothers of victims of sexual assault by a teacher in Cirebon Regency, West Java.


"I came here because, in the media and social media, there are cases of children getting assaulted sexually," said Risma when meeting the victim in Cirebon Regency.


During her visit, Risma gave more reinforcement to the victim's mother. In addition, she also encouraged the victims' mothers to dare to take a stand by continuing the legal process until it is completed. That way, it is hoped that there will be no more victims from these individuals.


"These women in my opinion are heroes, don't back down. Heroes must continue to advance until the end to protect other children," she said.


Not only meeting the victims, the Minister of Social Affairs also presented the ranks of local and village governments, teachers, and deputy police chiefs.


Risma hopes that their presence can support the handling of the case and that the victims, as well as their parents, can receive protection and support from all parties, especially local community leaders.


Responding to this, a Psychologist from PPT Gunung Jati Hospital Cirebon Srini Priyanti revealed that today is a historic day because people no longer need to be afraid to report such a case.


"Today is a historic day because the courage to report has the support of the government," said Yanti in front of the victims while convincing the mothers to continue to fight to solve the sexual assault case involving their child.


Risma also conveyed to the Deputy Chief of Police of Cirebon City, Ahmat Troy Aprio, S to continue supporting the follow-up of the investigation, especially the threat from the perpetrator's family and the surrounding community not to continue this case.


The Deputy Chief of Police of Cirebon City stated that he was ready to escort this case to the end and said that until now the legal process is still ongoing.


"Until now we are waiting for P21 (complete investigation file) from the prosecutor's office for all the files to be complete," said Troy.


In line with the statement of the Deputy Chief of Police, Member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, Selly Andriany Gantina stated that she would approach law enforcement to avoid the occurrence of restorative justice practices.


"Yes, there are several individuals in the village who seek to intimidate the victim's family and do it massively," she said.


In addition to providing support and strengthening, Risma also provided ATENSI assistance and entrepreneurial assistance with a total value of IDR 50,528,980 to 11 victims and their families.


In addition to Selly Gantina, Ahmat Troy and Srini Piyanti, also present on this occasion were Special Advisor to the Minister Don Rozano Sigit Prakoeswa, Director of Child Rehabilitation Kanya Eka Santi, Head of the Cirebon City Social Office Santi Rahayu and Ibdra Fithiani Regency.


Direct Support of Victims


Not only meeting and talking with the victim's mother, Risma also met directly with the victims of sexual assault. The Social Affairs Minister reinforces so that they can overcome trauma and become successful children in the future.


"You should not be afraid from now on, because you have a good mother and God Almighty. So, you should not be afraid, you should not be humble. You all have the right to succeed," she said directly in front of his mother and victims.


Risma also advised the children to listen to their mother's words and be able to open up and talk about the obstacles they faced.


"Your mother is your paradise, so don't be afraid to tell stories. Listen to what your mother said. You must be strong, like a coral hit by waves that still stands upright," she said.


During the conversation, Risma noticed that several children still had sad and scared faces. Without hesitation, Risma hugged the children tightly and said that from now on they must be able to stand upright.


"From now on we must be able to walk with our heads held high, nothing is perfect in this world, perfection belongs to God," she said while hugging the crying victim.


Full attention and a loving gaze make the victim smile. They are even able to shout to voice their enthusiasm to move forward and overcome trauma.
