SUMEDANG (March 16, 2025) - Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA), together with the Sumedang Social Office and Tagana Personnel, moved quickly to distribute aid to residents affected by flooding in Sumedang, West Java Province, Sunday (3/16/2025). Heavy rain since Thursday (3/13/2025) submerged four villages in Cimanggung District with a water level of 70-110 cm.
The four affected villages are Cihanjuang Village, Sindanggalih Village, Sukadana Village, and Sindangpakuon Village. As a result, 752 families or 2,646 people were reported to be affected. "From the reports we received, the affected residents are still taking refuge in safer relatives' homes. The number of those displaced is still in the data collection process," said Masryani Mansyur, Acting Director of Social Protection for People Affected by Natural Disaster, Sunday (16/3/2025).
Masryani explained that to meet the basic needs of refugees, MoSA has sent logistical assistance through BBPPKS Lembang logistics warehouse and the West Java Provincial Social Office warehouse in two stages.
The first stage of assistance was 400 ready-to-eat food packages, 30 blankets, 50 mattresses, 50 family kit packages, and 50 kidsware packages worth IDR 102,297,000.
Furthermore, the second stage of assistance consisted of 629 ready-to-eat food packages, 100 kidsware packages, 50 adult clothing packages, 50 children's clothing packages, 100 blankets and 50 roll-up tents with a total assistance value of IDR 139,579,500.
Meanwhile, for the service of fulfilling basic needs for affected residents, MoSA, together with the Social Office and Tagana have also set up a field kitchen located at Cimanggung District Office with a total production of 2,400 packages per day for two meals.
The current condition at the disaster site, the flood is gradually receding even though it is still raining with light intensity. Garbage cleaning is also taking place with the help of an excavator, assistance from the West Bandung Regency Government.
The Regent of Sumedang has issued a Decree on the determination of Emergency Response Status No: 300.2 / KEP.168-HUK / 2025, which is valid from March 16, 2025, to March 22, 2025.
