Jakarta (March 25, 2025) - Community School initiated by President Prabowo Subianto to provide wider and quality education access to poor families will start operating in school year 2025/2026. Community school will provide free education services with a boarding school concept with a quality environment.
"The President wants to honor poor families, while at the same time encouraging the common people to rise and play a significant role in Indonesia Emas 2045, 100 years of Indonesian Independence. That's why this is said to be an effort to break the chain of poverty," said Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) to the media at MoSA Office, Tuesday (3/25/2025).
Gus Ipul said that for the development of Community School, there are currently 53 buildings ready to be used as places for teaching and learning activities. "Almost all provinces have them, from Aceh to Papua," he said.
He also explained that the ready buildings began with the use of assets owned by MoSA, such as Sentra Terpadu/Sentra, Training Centers, or buildings that physically meet the requirements to organize Community School.
In addition to using assets owned by MoSA, the Regional Government also provided proposals for the construction of community school, both in the form of buildings that needed to be revitalized or in the form of land with an area of 5-10 hectares.
Furthermore, Gus Ipul believes that the boarding system that will be used by Community School will be more effective in shaping students' academic achievements and character. Here, parental commitment is also a determining factor in supporting children's education.
"There are many success stories from those who attend boarding schools, and it is proven that people can be more concentrated, focused on learning, disciplined, and more orderly," he said.
In addition, MoSA will also continue to accompany parents so that they have the enthusiasm and awareness that their children must pursue an education.
Regarding the recruitment of teachers for community school, Gus Ipul explained that it would be carried out by Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education with two options, namely the placement of civil servant teachers or teachers who have taken the Teacher Professional Education (PPG). "This is the work of the government, the term is collective according to the respective duties and functions, the operational person in charge is MoSA," he said.
In addition, community school is also fully supported by Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Public Works and related agencies including Presidential Staff Office. "There will be a Supervisory Task Force, we ask for assistance from BPKP (Financial and Development Supervisory Agency), we involve everyone, so we are not alone," he said.
Meanwhile, the next step after students graduate from Community School can be a step to establish cooperation with Ministry of Manpower.
In the end, Gus Ipul asked for support from the entire community so that in the future, more children will have the opportunity to go to school. "In the future, one district, one Community School with a student capacity of 1,000 people," he said.
