Jakarta (March 13, 2025) – National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN) which has been finalized and is now entering the random testing stage will also be used as a reference for zakat distribution by Baznas (National Board of Zakat).
This was revealed in the Extreme Poverty Management Consolidation Meeting at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment, Thursday (3/13/2025).
On this occasion, Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) stated that DTSEN is a very rich and accurate source of data to support the effectiveness of social assistance and empowerment programs as well as the distribution of community funds.
"This DTSEN is truly very rich data that we can use for various things, and God willing, it will be more accurate," said Gus Ipul.
In the future, the government will consolidate community funds such as those in Baznas so that they are focused on being used for poverty alleviation. Technically, Baznas and other philanthropic institutions will continue to work independently. However, in terms of distributing zakat and other assistance, it will be directed using DTSEN so that it reaches the hands of the poor.
Regarding the accuracy of DTSEN, Gus Ipul emphasized that he dares to guarantee it because it will be updated periodically, both through formal and participatory methods. Updating is mandatory because population data is dynamic.
Gus Ipul added that poverty alleviation efforts are not enough to fulfill only the material aspect. Spiritual and social aspects must also be fulfilled. According to him, spiritual contributions, in this case through zakat institutions, are one means to motivate the community to rise and take on a role in the future.
"We must start to include religious teachings to motivate the community, poor families, for example, to be able to rise and play a greater role in the future," he said.
