JAKARTA (March 14, 2025) – Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) stated that the Government is currently continuing to finalize Community School Program, which will be launched soon. He said that all parties have taken an approach in coordinating each other's tasks that have been carried out.
"All teams have held a coordination meeting. There are several teams, there is a team for the curriculum, recruiting teachers, there is a team for facilities and infrastructure," said Gus Ipul while attending Iftar Gathering activity at Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) Office in Jakarta, Friday (3/14/2025) evening.
He added that for the recruitment of Community School teachers, the Government will take teachers from Civil Servant teachers.
"Civil Servants who meet the requirements will be retested who have passed the PPG test. Later, they will be retested and placement will be adjusted to their place of residence," said Gus Ipul.
In addition, Gus Ipul said that in the next stage, teachers who have passed the selection will receive special education again before they teach at Community School.
"The recruitment team is led by Prof. Nuh. We also have a team from Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, from the Directorate General of Higher Education. Several experts have been asked to accompany us," said Gus Ipul.
Regarding the mechanism for selecting prospective students for Community School, Gus Ipul said that there are several stages that prospective students will go through.
"First, they must be in decile 1 or 2 on the DTSEN, there are criteria. Then there will be the next stage later. It has been prepared," said Gus Ipul.
He also said that in the recruitment of prospective students, there will be several requirements that must be met to ensure that Community School program is followed completely by students.
"One of the requirements is that there will be an agreement from their parents. They are not allowed to drop out of school, they must follow the process until they graduate. So there is willingness from their parents," said Gus Ipul.
This is to avoid the possibility of children dropping out of school in the middle of the road.
"That's why we hope that parents can see it anytime (through the existence of Community School dormitory), that's the President's direction. So parents can visit anytime," he said.
Therefore, student recruitment will be prioritized for children who are around the location where Community School is held.
Furthermore, Gus Ipul said that referring to the planning that has been made, students who will attend Community School will go through an orientation stage first.
"For example, there is a stage called matriculation to introduce the teaching and learning process in community school," he said.
Gus Ipul said that until now, collaboration with the regional government has also been going well. Quite a few regions have proposed several locations for a prospective Community School to be established.
"For example, in East Java, almost all regencies/cities have submitted. We are waiting for several other provinces as well," said Gus Ipul.
Previously, the Government had planned to establish Community School which would target students from poor and extremely poor families who are included in National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN). Community School was established with the concept of a free boarding school so that all school fees, food, and boarding house accommodation would be borne by the state. Community School is designed to produce students to can become agents of change to change the welfare of their families. Community School covers elementary to high school levels with a curriculum that includes formal education and character education. Community School seeks to prepare Indonesian human resources who are ready to compete to continue their education to higher education. This is a form of honoring the poor and facilitating the rise of common people so that the transmission of poverty between generations can be broken.
