“Those who are vulnerable, who are victims, who need social and medical rehabilitation, we will work together later. We have centers that facilitate those who are vulnerable and victims until they can recover, then given empowerment,” Gus Ipul said after meeting with the Minister of KP2MI at the Ministry of Social Affairs office, Jakarta, on Friday (1/11/2024) evening.
Furthermore, Gus Ipul explained that various stages are needed to restore the social function of PMI with problems. The first is to determine whether the PMI's condition requires further handling. If it does, then it needs to be determined whether medical, mental, and social rehabilitation, mentoring, training, or even all actions are needed.
Handling the rehabilitation of problematic migrant workers will be carried out by the Ministry of Social Affairs in 31 Centers and Integrated Centers of the Ministry of Social Affairs throughout Indonesia. In addition, handling can also be carried out at the Ministry of Social Protection and Trauma Center (RPTC) located in Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands, and Bambu Apus, Jakarta.
After completing rehabilitation and being able to carry out their social functions again, the Ministry of Social Affairs will not just let these problematic PMIs go. The Ministry of Social Affairs will also provide assessment and empowerment assistance, of course, according to the conditions and interests of each PMI. The form of empowerment and the amount can certainly be different, depending on their respective conditions.
“We need support from the Ministry of Social Affairs, especially to rehabilitate PMI with mental disorders so that they can be rehabilitated at the Ministry of Social Affairs Center,” said KP2MI Minister Abdul Kadir Karding.
In addition to rehabilitation, Karding will also collaborate with the Ministry of Social Affairs to manage migrant villages where most of the residents are post-migrants. Later, the village will become a model village for other migrant villages.
