Vice Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono attended the Flower-Laying
Ceremony at Sea to commemorate Heroes' Day 2024. The Flower-Laying Ceremony was
held on the KRI Semarang - 594 in the waters of Jakarta Bay on Sunday
(10/11/2024).
Commemorating
Heroes' Day 2024 on the KRI Semarang - 594, Vice Minister Agus Jabo advised
continuing the ideals of the heroes in realizing an independent Indonesia.
"As
successors, we have to honor and realize the ideals of our heroes—namely an
independent, self-reliant, sovereign Indonesia and a just and prosperous
Indonesian State. We have to realize what their ideals are," said Agus
Jabo after the Ceremony.
The
Ceremony was solemnly led by the Chairman of People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) Ahmad Muzani as the ceremony inspector.
As a civil servant, Ahmad said that many things can be implemented as a
manifestation of heroic values in the present day.
"The
implementation of heroic values in the present day is how we as civil
servants, as state administrators, use our positions and mandates as best we
can for the good, prosperity, upholding truth and justice for the people of
Indonesia," he said.
The
commemoration of the 79th Heroes' Day carries the theme "Emulate Your
Heroes, Love Your Country". This theme reflects a strong national spirit,
a call to unite, maintain national identity, and strengthen the sense of love
for the homeland.
The
peak ceremony of the commemoration of Heroes' Day was held simultaneously at
KRI Semarang - 594 and the Main National Heroes' Cemetery (TMPNU) Kalibata. The
Ceremony was carried out to commemorate the services of the heroes and inspire
the next generation to appreciate the struggles of the previous heroes.
The ceremony began with a report from the ceremony commander, followed by a moment of silence, and the laying of wreaths by the ceremony inspector accompanied by Vice Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono. After the ceremony, all guests present also scattered flowers in the waters of Jakarta Bay. The series of events to commemorate Heroes' Day 2024 was also filled with various activities, including a friendly gathering at the TMPNU Kalibata Convention Building and an interactive dialogue with vocational high school students in the National Library auditorium as an effort to instill heroic values. Both activities were also attended by Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul).
