JAKARTA (November 12, 2024) – Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) has expressed his willingness to comply with Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian's directive to temporarily halt the distribution of social assistance ahead of the regional elections (Pilkada) on November 27, 2024.
Gus Ipul delivered this statement during a press briefing after a working meeting with Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) at the DPR RI building in Jakarta on Tuesday (November 12, 2024).
"We welcome this plan. The Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) will undoubtedly comply if it becomes official policy," stated Gus Ipul.
He added that MoSA would follow the regulations to help create a conducive environment ahead of the simultaneous elections.
"This is to avoid controversy during the election period so that everything remains calm. After the elections, we will distribute the assistance," Gus Ipul explained.
