BADUNG (December 21st, 2022) - Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini provided reinforcement for Disaster Preparedness Village (KSB) Formation Facilitation activity in Badung Regency. To 60 newly formed KSB Karang Kemanisan administrators, the Minister of Social Affairs provided a disaster risk reduction simulation.

"If you look at the geographical conditions, especially the land structure in Indonesia, from Sabang to Merauke, all are affected by the Megathrust fault. Therefore, we must begin to understand, at least about how we can avoid disasters," said Risma opening the meeting with the KSB board, Monday (19/12).

The formation of KSB is part of the Ministry of Social Affairs' efforts through the Directorate of Social Protection for Victims of Natural Disasters (PSKBA) to strengthen disaster mitigation. Through KSB, community preparedness is built to anticipate disasters before the main assistance reaches the disaster site.

The facilitation of the formation of KSB Karang Kemanisan was held on December 18-20, 2022 at Wantilan Pura Dalem Kahyangan, Legian Traditional Village, Kuta District, Badung Regency.

To improve the competence, the management was equipped with materials related to disaster mitigation, evacuation management and psychosocial support services. The management also practiced mapping vulnerable points, evacuation and mapping the duties of each personnel.

On that occasion, the Minister directly sketched abrasion prevention which can be done simply by making clay embankments and can be built by mutual cooperation. The Minister also explained that the pole structure in Balinese houses is effective in minimizing the impact of disasters. This local wisdom is what the Minister emphasized to be maintained.

The Minister believes that the harmony of the Balinese community can reach all residents in Bali, both locals and tourists, in terms of spreading knowledge about disaster management.

"I think, the people in Bali are very harmonious. This local culture must be mobilized. From banjar to banjar, then it can spread to the next door so that all of Bali understands how to handle disasters," said the Minister.

She hopes, in the future, Bali's culture of mutual cooperation in handling disasters so that making Bali Disaster Resilient Island can be an inspiration for other regions.

Chairman of KSB Karang Kemanisan, Ketut Sudiana, agreed with the Minister of Social Affairs. He also expressed his appreciation to Social Minister Risma who took the time to attend and to provide reinforcement.

"The way to handle disasters delivered by the Minister will be an interesting perspective for tourists. Your presence in our place is a great motivation for us to be more ngayah, which means giving part of ourselves sincerely for good," said Sudiana.

Karang Kemanisan KSB is the eighth KSB formed in Bali Province. As an initial stage, the formation of this KSB was equipped with a social barn centered at the Legia Village Office.

Logistics for the social barn was sent from the Sentra "Mahatmiya" warehouse in Tabanan, Bali with details of 300 packages of fast food, 200 packages of kids’ meal, 10 boxes of bottled mineral water, 50 packages of baby clothes, 50 packages of adult clothes, 25 packages of kids ware A2022, 25 packages of family kit A2022, 25 packages of baby diapers, 50 sheets of rolling tents, 2 units of family tents A2022, and 2 units of multipurpose tents A2022.
