NORTH ACEH (30 May 2024) – Commemorating the peak of the 28th National Elderly Day (HLUN) at Simpang Landing Field, Lhoksukon, North Aceh Regency, a plethora of services and activities were meticulously arranged to ensure maximum benefits for the elderly. Over 1,300 elderly individuals from various districts in North Aceh graced the event, where the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) extended various forms of assistance.
According to Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini, North Aceh was chosen as the host for HLUN 2024 due to its population of over 50,000 elderly people. Therefore, MoSA has been providing comprehensive services since early May. "MoSA offers complete services, spanning from healthcare examination, resolving population issues, to home improvements for the elderly," said Minister Risma while attending HLUN on Wednesday (29/5).
During the event, 854 elderly individuals received examinations and treatments from ENT specialists, internists, neurologists, orthopedists, and physiotherapists. A pharmacy was set up on-site to provide immediate and cost-free medication for the elderly.
Alamsyah Amin (67) from Dayah Village, Lhoksukon, was overjoyed to get free ENT examination and treatment services from the Ministry of Social Affairs. He also praised the friendly and excellent service. “I am immensely grateful, especially to meet Mrs. Risma who came from Jakarta to Lhoksukon,” he said with a happy smile.
Moreover, 200 elderly individuals participated in Prolanis (Chronic Disease Management Program) exercises aimed at preserving their health and fitness. Additionally, 176 elderly individuals engaged in an integrated marriage registration trial organized by the Shar’iyah Court, the Office of Religious Affairs, and the North Aceh Population and Civil Registration Office. The event also featured blood donation activities, with 200 volunteers from Tagana and the wider community contributing to meeting North Aceh's blood supply requirements.
The HLUN 2024 series in North Aceh began on 10 May 2024. The celebration was not only held at the main venue at the North Aceh Regent’s Office field but also celebrated with the elderly in 26 districts in North Aceh and 10 other locations across various parts of Eastern Indonesia, including Papua, Sulawesi, NTB, NTT, Maluku, and other areas.
