JAKARTA (August 26, 2019) – The Social Affairs Minister of Republic of Indonesia Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita inaugurated the High Senior Official in the Ministry of Social Affairs where one of them is a person with disability. It is a commitment to provide space for disabled state civil apparatus with a good working capability.
 
“Mrs. Eva sets as High Primary Leader Official not because she is a person with disability. There is no connection with her condition but because according to the Selection Committee of the Job Auction, she has the highest score,” said the Social Affairs Minister to the journalist after the inauguration which was held in the Main Meeting Room of the Ministry of Social Affairs’ Building in Jakarta, Monday.
 
Eva Rahmi Kasim today was inaugurated as the Head of Social Welfare Research and Development of the Ministry of Social Affairs. Eva was the only woman who was inaugurated and the first person with disability to became Echelon 2 Official in Indonesia. In the past, she took office as Function Analysis of Middle Policy, Planning Bureau of the Ministry of Social Affairs.
The other five officials which been inaugurated today is Sanusi as the Head of Law Bureau, Laode Taufik Nuryadin as Director of Remote Indigenous Community Empowerment, Muhammad Safli Nasution as Director of Social Disaster Victim Protection, Hasim as Head of Social Counseling Center, and Beni Sujanto as Head of Social Welfare Learning and Training Center.
 
In front of the Social Affairs Minister, the Middle High Official who watched the inauguration, Eva reads the Integrity Pact with a loud voice.
 
“I want to deliver the message for our brothers and sisters who have a disability that there is no limitation or boundary for those who want to serve this country, there is no limitation for giving contribution,” said the Minister.
 
This inauguration, he continues, was also in line with the Law number 8/2016 Article 11 Letter G on Person with Disability which stated that a person with disability had right to receive the chance for developing the career and every normative thing which connected in it.
 
“I hope that this can inspire all the state civil apparatus with disability around the country that there is no limitation for them to have a dream of taking an office or certain positions. The example is Mrs. Eva who achieves the best score according to the open selection. She is proved to be competent in her field,” confirm the Social Affairs Minister.
 
Meanwhile, Eva Rahmi Kasim was met after the inauguration, admitted that she was happy and grateful with the mandate and trust which was given.
 
“I've been so grateful because of having the same opportunity to self-actualize and work. It shows that we are equal. The Minister also ensures that persons with disability have the same opportunity to take office based on each of their ability and competency,” she said with bright eyes.
 
She also explained that the office selection process which been through was the same with the other participants. Started from the administration selection process, delivered the paper, competency selection until the interview selection.
 
“In the future as the President Joko Widodo and the Social Affairs Minister requested, the Social Welfare Research and Development Center will produce research which can become material for decision-making and policy for handling many social problems. Thus, every social problem can be overcome based on research and development,” said Eva.
 
Eva Rahmi Kasim was born on July 23. She received Karya Satya Achievement Badge from the President of Republic of Indonesia in 2019 for her dedication as State Civil Apparatus for 20 years. She has received the Australian Alumni Award from the Australian Government for the Inspirational Figure category. She also wrote many articles related to disability issues which were published by many national media.
 
Eva was an alumnus of Social and Political Science Bachelor 1 at Universitas Indonesia (UI) then continued to be Bachelor 2 of Disability Science study program in Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia.
