DEPOK
(14 May 2022) - Iskandar
D always puts a smile on his lips. His hands and feet are disabled, yet he does
not perceive it as an obstacle to working and earning sustenance for his
family.
Iskandar
who was from Curup, Bengkulu, lives his days with optimism and joy. With his
left hand and left foot, this 30-year-old man is still able to work hard in
selling goods to support his wife and two children.
Iskandar
sells clothes, food, and drinks by occupying roadside stalls. "I sell
things only with my hands, sir. Thank God I got help from the Ministry of
Social Affairs (MoSA)," said Iskandar (12/05).
This
30-year-old man is one of the vulnerable groups (disabled) who received
assistance with a three-wheeled motorbike from MoSA. The motorbike was handed
over directly by the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini on the
commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in 2021 at
MoSA.
Iskandar
admitted that the three-wheeled motorbike helped his business.
"Alhamdulillah, it helps a lot. My mobility is much easier including when
transporting and moving merchandise," he said.
The
motorbike also made Iskandar successfully earn money. His income increases over
time. "When having no motorbike, the income was about IDR 500,000 - IDR 700,000
per week. Now it is up to IDR 6,000,000 per month," he added.
Like
other beneficiaries of three-wheeled motorbikes, Iskandar must complete the
legality of the motorbike to the relevant agencies. However, he did not wait
quietly.
"I
just casually rode the motorbike. The officer understood that this was
assistance from MoSA. Once I ran into officers, they even greeted me. 'Oh, I
see. This is the motorbike from Mrs Risma’. There is also MoSA’s logo, so there
is no problem,” he explained.
A
Social Companion, Hetty Herdiati appreciated Iskandar's enthusiasm and hard
work. "Mr Iskandar's enthusiasm should be appreciated. He needs the
motorbike to develop his business properly. Hopefully, his business will be
sustainable and successful," she said.
Regarding
the information that the beneficiary still has not used the three-wheeled
motorbikes from MoSA for various reasons, Hetty is reluctant to answer.
Instead, Hetty invited all beneficiaries to be grateful.
MoSA
usually provides more than one type of assistance to vulnerable groups. As for
the three-wheeled motorbike, MoSA also provides the merchandise.
"MoSA
also gave another additional assistance. Many poor people are waiting for their
turn to get assistance. We should be grateful. By doing so, Allah SWT will add
blessings later. Insha Allah," she said.
