Indra stood up, but not fully erect. His body has shrunk, not looking like a teenager his age. The Minister of Social Affairs who saw him trying to walk, then approached the severely disabled teenager from Bandar Lampung City.
"Hello, Indra," said Risma greeting. Indra, with all the strength he had, directed by his caregiver, hobbled towards Social Affairs Minister Risma and spontaneously hugged her.
Instantly, Risma returned Indra's hug, while asking, "Yes, Indra, what do you want?"
Indra, who could not speak, see, or hear, hugged the Minister even tighter, signaling that he wanted to be carried. It didn't take long for Risma to catch Indra's signal. The Minister also held him with affection.
Risma then encouraged Indra. She also gave Indra an adaptive wheelchair to support his daily activities. Besides, Risma also had time to feed Indra food.
For what this teenager has been suffered, the Minister of Social Affairs has asked the "Inten Soeweno" Integrated Center (STIS) in Cibinong to take care of Indra, from originally being treated at the Busaina Children's Orphanage, Bandar Lampung City.
"We are trying to solve the problem once again. Especially for Indra, it is somewhat different because the place where Indra was treated, is unable to care for Indra again," said the Minister of Social Affairs.
Risma took steps to resolve the problem by asking the Center to assist in Indra's treatment process. Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) in the form of nutrition, clothing, educational toys, and assistive devices amounting to Rp10,489,241 was also distributed.
Furthermore, the Minister said, that the way she solves the problem was by collaborating with Kitabisa.com regarding donations specifically for those who need long-term care.
"Usually, we ask Kitabisa for help to find donors so that those who need long-term care can be fulfilled, especially those who need besides BPJS," said Risma.
Because, according to her, in the average case she finds, in addition to not being registered with BPJS membership, there are still many other needs that they cannot fulfill on their own. "For that, then we ask Kitabisa for help to find donations from donors," she said.
Donations from kitabisa.com collected for Indra amounted to Rp59,379,736. The assistance has been received and used for Indra's operations while at STIS.
By the doctor who handled him, Indra was diagnosed with Rubella Virus which resulted in delayed overall development.
Indra's abnormally curved spine (kyphosis), barrel chest, and flat feet made it difficult for him to walk properly.
Indra is a lone wolf, requiring him to rely on others to carry out his daily activities. Since 2017, Indra has been treated at the Busaina Children's Orphanage in Bandar Lampung City, an LKS that focuses on taking care of abandoned children.
Apart from Indra, that afternoon, the Minister of Social Affairs also met two other children with severe illnesses. They are Nayla Murti Qa'adah (1.5), a toddler without an anal hole and vaginal hole from Indramayu, and Muhamad Khoir Abid Abqori (1), a toddler with a malignant tumor from Tangerang.
To Nayla, the Minister of Social Affairs handed over ATENSI assistance in the form of nutrition, clothing, toys, entrepreneurship, and money for operational needs for treatment amounting to Rp9,320,000 managed by the "Phalamartha" Center in Sukabumi. Meanwhile, donations from kitabisa.com for Nayla amounted to Rp72,571,605.
Meanwhile, ATENSI assistance for Khoir in the form of nutrition, clothing, toys, and maintenance operational money amounting to Rp8,727,410 managed by the "Mulya Jaya" Center in Jakarta was also handed over by the Minister of Social Affairs. Meanwhile, donations from kitabisa.com for Khoir amounted to Rp70,530,848.
