BIMA (December 10, 2021) - The Director General of Social Protection and Security (Linjamsos) handed over basic food assistance to communities affected by the flood in 3 urban villages, namely Jatiwangi Village, East Jatibaru Village, and West Jatibaru Village in Asakota District, Bima, Friday (10/12). In addition to the three locations, the Director General of (Linjamsos) also handed over assistance to the community in Lewirato Village, Mpunda District, Bima.
Previously, a number of areas in Bima City, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) were surrounded by flash floods, Monday (6/12). As a result, the houses of residents in a number of sub-districts were submerged and one connecting bridge was cut off by the swift flow of the overflowing river. Based on data and information from the Regional Board for Disaster Management (BPBD) of Bima City, the flood occurred at around 12.30 WITA. The flood was triggered by high-intensity rain so that the river water discharge in the northern part of Bima City overflowed into residential areas.
Meanwhile, in the analysis of the inaRISK hazard study, the Bima City is an area with a moderate to high potential flood hazard category. A total of 5 sub-districts are in danger, including areas currently reported to be affected by flooding. The five sub-districts with the potential for flooding include the Districts of West Rasanae, Mpunda, East Rasanae, Raba and Asakota.
