PASURUAN (November 30, 2024) - A total of 625 participants of the Independent Resilient Elderly School (Selantang) program graduated at the Dharmoyudho Arts Building, Pasuruan, Saturday (11/30/2024). The program, initiated by the Advisor to the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (Women's Organization for Civil Servant's Wives) of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Fatma Saifullah Yusuf, aims to empower the elderly to be independent, active, and happy. The graduates consisted of 228 Standard 1 graduates, 291 Standard 2, and 106 Standard 3.

Fatma encouraged the graduates to be an inspiration in their environment. The Selantang program is managed professionally with a structured curriculum for six months. The Ministry of Social Affairs also supports through operational assistance to improve the quality of this program.

Acting Mayor of Pasuruan, Adi Wibowo, praised this program which is in line with the increase in life expectancy in Pasuruan City, reaching an average age of 72 years. This graduation is expected to encourage 22,000 other seniors to be more independent and productive, strengthening Pasuruan's vision as an elderly-friendly city.
