JAKARTA (July 29, 2020) - Minister of Social Affairs, Juliari P. Batubara provides education to Beneficiary Families (KPM) through Family Capacity Building Meetings (P2K2) in the Family Hope Program (PKH) in Kelurahan Kebon Pala, Makassar District, East Jakarta.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, said the Minister of Social Affairs, P2K2 activities must still be followed by all KPMs by strictly implementing health procedures set by the government. "Now it's a bit different, you have to wear a mask, wash your hands with soap, you can't sit together," said the Minister of Social Affairs while reviewing the implementation of P2K2 in Jakarta, Tuesday (28/7).

To the PKH assistants, he also instructed all Human Resources (HR) to start carrying out their respective duties while implementing new habitual adaptation patterns. "Even though the current situation is a bit difficult due to COVID-19, however, the program must continue, but it must also be accompanied by an optimistic attitude and strong belief," he added.

P2K2, or also known as KPM with the term 'PKH School', is a mandatory activity for all PKH social assistance recipients to participate in. In P2K2, they get a variety of educational materials, ranging from knowledge about health and nutrition, family financial management, to child care and education.

All of these materials are contained in the P2K2 implementation guidebook. So, when social assistance is distributed, KPM is expected to be able to manage the social assistance they receive properly because they have been equipped with the ability to be empowered and ready to be independent or graduate.

The meeting, which is now set to be held on a limited basis, only brought together 18 representatives of KPM PKH. Each KPM bench is distanced from each other and all of them wear masks.

The afternoon activity was also attended by the Director General of Social Protection and Security, Pepen Nazaruddin, Director of Family Social Security, Rachmat Koesnadi, Head of Makassar District, Kamal Alatas and Head of Kebon Pala Village, Faisal Rizal.

On the same occasion, Pepen Nazaruddin stated the graduation target of 10% or one million KPM from ten million KPM. "This year, we are targeting 10% of KPM PKH graduations. In DKI Jakarta alone, 160 thousand KPM have graduated," said Pepen.

According to him, this cannot be separated from the role of PKH human resources, starting from assistants, City Coordinators (Korkot), to District and District Coordinators.

Meanwhile, when met after conducting P2K2, the PKH Facilitator in Kebon Pala Village, Wardiyaningsih, admitted that he was happy and motivated because the P2K2 he gave to KPM was attended by the Minister of Social Affairs.

"I feel happy and motivated by the presence of the Minister, meaning he respects our activities, PKH companions, even in this pandemic condition," said the woman who is usually called Ning by her KPM.

Although she was nervous about delivering the material in front of the Minister of Social Affairs, she slowly admitted that she could handle it. "Of course it's very human to feel nervous, I just want to make it flow because of course I have to master the P2K2 material which I will convey to KPM," said Ning.

The presence of the Minister of Social Affairs in P2K2 for his assisted KPM PKH, she continued, is a matter of pride for Ning. The reason is, she can use this opportunity at the same time to motivate and prove to KPM that P2K2 is a mandatory activity to be followed in PKH so that the Minister of Social Affairs is willing to attend directly for us that afternoon.
