Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini reviewed and handed over aid to flood victims, respectively in Kayu Bulan Village, Limboto District and Buhu Village, Talaga Jaya District, Gorontalo Regency, Wednesday (29/9/2021).
The provided assistance consisted of rolled tents, mattresses, bed, and blankets. There is also assistance in the form of family kits, baby equipment, food utensils, family kitchen utensils, as well as ready-to-eat food and children's food. The total assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs reached Rp270.9 million.
“Every year the Ministry of Social Affairs helps flood victims in this location. This means that there must be a different handling,” said Social Minister Risma. Specifically for the handling of floods that every year hit the area around Lake Limboto, the Minister of Social Affairs proposed that the local government build a dike.
According to her, flood management that must be resolved is the root of the problem that caused the disaster to occur.
“In the past, this location was part of the lake, then it was used for housing. This must be a sunken area, that's the root of the problem. So that's why I asked the regent to propose the construction of a dike in this area," said Risma.
