While we are facing the COVID-19 pandemic, another disaster was faced by our brothers in North Luwu. Flash floods originating from the upper reaches of the Masamba River hit six sub-districts in North Luwu on Monday (13/7).

No less than 4,900 houses were submerged, and 220 of them were badly damaged and even washed away by the swift water. Not only that, the floods also caused 32 people to die and 16 others are still in search.

The Minister of Social Affairs, Juliari P. Batubara, today (17/7), visited the location of the flood and met a number of residents and children who were still displaced. The Minister of Social Affairs also handed over 2 billion rupiah worth of aid to help relieve our brothers and sisters in this beautiful land, North Luwu.
