1.4 Million Families in Central Java Receive Cash Social Aid

SEMARANG (3 November 2020) - Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P. Batubara inspected the distribution of Cash Social Aid (BST) in Semarang Regency. The Ministry of Social Affairs distributes BST to 1,412,938 beneficiary families (KPM) throughout Central Java Province. In Semarang Regency, there are 49,778 KPM recipients of BST.
Located at the Banyu Biru Subdistrict Office, Semarang Regency, Social Minister Juliari greeted KPM who sat in formation to comply with health protocols. In this occasion the Minister of Social Affairs questioned several KPM regarding the benefits they felt from the government aid.
The Minister of Social Affairs also reviewed E-warong commodities from SME products and had a dialog with SME owners. Minister Juliari praised the growing entrepreneurship in the area.
The Minister of Social Affairs stated that BST was given to poor or vulnerable families who were affected by the Covid-19 outbreak. He stated that the pandemic had made most people lose their jobs and could not fulfill their basic needs.
"With the direction of the President, I am assigned to ensure that no one is starving during the pandemic. BST is expected to increase the purchasing power of people affected by the pandemic," said Minister of Social Affairs Ari in his speech (03/11).
He asked the people to use the aid properly. "Use this aid properly. To the leaders in the regions, I hope this aid is temporary and then to be replaced with empowerment programs," he said.
BST is distributed to 9 million KPM in 33 Provinces in Indonesia, except for the Greater Jakarta area. Exception was made because the President had already given Special Aid in the form of basic foodstuffs (Sembako) in the area.
BST recipients in Central Java Province are 1,412,938 KPM while in Semarang Regency, there are 49,778 KPM.
Each KPM receives aid of IDR 600,000/month from April to June while in July to December, the aid is 300,000/ month.
In its distribution, the Ministry of Social Affairs partners with PT. Pos Indonesia and Himbara (BNI, BRI, BTN and Mandiri).
Minister Ari conveyed his gratitude for cooperation and support from various parties so that the program ran smoothly.
"I express my gratitude and appreciation for the cooperation and support of PT Pos, Himbara, local governments, program facilitators, and all parties who play important roles in this program so that the program run smoothly," he said.
