JAKARTA (12 July 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs through the "Handayani" Jakarta Center carries out social reintegration for children with the initials "R" to return to family care and become part of society.

Therefore, the Social Minister Tri Rismaharini responded to the case that the state is present with social rehabilitation because R is a child victim exposed to radicalism.

R has been undergoing the social rehabilitation process since June 2020 through the Residential-based Social Rehabilitation Assistance Program (Atensi). The rehabilitation includes fulfillment of basic needs, health care, psychological and social counseling, reality therapy, cognitive therapy, focused discussions, group therapy, counter narrative, national insight, and religious insight.

R had difficulty getting along with peers and could not accept differences in ethnicity or religion, did not want to greet or answer greetings and did not want to pray in congregation in the mosque. After receiving rehabilitation in the Center accompanied by social workers, currently R has experienced a more positive change in behavior such as being able to work together and being able to accept differences.

The change in R's behavior was quite significant and gets the approval of the referring party, the police, the Special Detachment 88 Anti-Terror (Densus 88). It was agreed that in the discussion that social reintegration could be carried out for "R".

Prior to social reintegration, the Social Worker coordinates with the Regional Government where "R" lives, in this case the Social Office. Social Workers make home visits to assess family readiness, provide parenting skill materials and approach the community through the involvement of regional officials.

"Handayani" Center also seeks education for "R" and his younger brother at the Community Learning Activity Center (PKBM) around the kelurahan where he lives.

"The process was quite difficult, because previously R and his mother did not want to get formal education. But after the approach and all the processes, finally R was allowed by his mother to be willing to participate in PKBM school activities," said Head of Handayani Center, Hasrifah in Jakarta, Sunday (11/7/). 2021).

The handover of social reintegration "R" was carried out by "Handayani" Center accompanied by representatives from Detachment 88, Social Office, Village Non-commissioned Officer of Military District Command (Babinsa Koramil), Police, Lurah, and the head of the Community Unit (Rukun Warga/RW).

"We, as an extension of the Ministry of Social Affairs, are ready to monitor "R" and his family, and will record "R" into the Social Welfare Integrated Data (DTKS) to get social protection and security," said the Lurah, Eka.

Meanwhile, assistance, supervision and family empowerment will be carried out by "Handayani" Center in collaboration with the regional government and the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Society against Radicalism and Violent Extremism (SeRVE).
