Accompanied by MoSA, the Condition of the Victim Raped by Her Stepfather is Getting Better

TANGERANG (February 1st, 2024) – The condition of the child raped by her stepfather is getting better after Ministry of Social Affairs through Mulya Jaya Center and Directorate of Social Rehabilitation for Children conducted an assessment and accompaniment towards the victim and her family on Saturday (19/1)). Now, the victim has started to be cheerful. She is also determined to finish her studies in junior high school.

“Thank you, God. When we went there yesterday (31/1), the kid seemed cheerful. She is excited to go to school,” social worker of Mulya Jaya Center of Ministry of Social Affairs Triana Kusuma Dewi said while checking out the condition of the victim and her mother in Kresek District, Tangerang.

The second visit of Mulya Jaya Center is aimed at providing psychoeducation and discussing residential land issues between the victim’s family and the village. Triana feels relieved after knowing that the school fully supports Ministry of Social Affairs in recovering the victim’s condition.

“There’s no more bullying at school. Her friends asked for an apology. Her teachers have also given instructions. The principal even took a firm stand if a student guardian was asking the victim to be expelled from school,” Triana said, relieved.

The rape committed by the stepfather not only harmed the victim but also made the mother who is also the wife of the perpetrator feel traumatized. The victim’s mother was devastated when her husband’s crime was discovered. Aware of this, Ministry of Social Affairs also provides counseling and assistance for the victim’s mother.

On the first visit, team from the Ministry of Social Affairs took the victim to have a general check-up with the psychiatrist, obstetrician, and gynecologist, and a lab check to find out the condition of the victim. Besides, art therapy is also provided to help the victim regulate her emotions and reduce the victim’s stress level. For the victim’s mother, team from the Ministry of Social Affairs performs Emotional Freedom Technique (EMT) therapy to reduce the mother’s anger, sadness, and fear.

Considering that the victim’s family is categorized as an underprivileged family, Ministry of Social Affairs also gives additional assistance to the victim, the mother, and the victim’s sibling in the form of basic food, additional nutrition, hygiene kit, and clothes. Since the victim is a student, she also gets school supplies to support her studies.

After further investigation, it turned out that the mother's family certificate had not been registered in the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) and did not have a Premium Assistance Recipients of National Health Insurance (PBI-JK). For this reason, the team from the Ministry of Social Affairs is also coordinating with the Tangerang Regency Social Office to file for DTKS and PBI-JK for the family.

The Ministry of Social Affairs' efforts did not stop there. The Ministry of Social Affairs, through Sentra Mulya Jaya, is also still carrying out follow-up actions to provide entrepreneurship assistance to the victim's mother. With this entrepreneurial assistance, it is hoped that the victim's family will live independently, and their condition will improve.
