CIANJUR, THURSDAY (10 JANUARY 2023) --* Vice President of Indonesia, Ma’ruf Amin, accompanied by Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, handed over compensation to the families of the late victims of the Cianjur earthquake. The compensation was given to 478 family members who received IDR15 million each, totaling IDR7,17 billion.
The ceremony occurred at Kampung Lanjung, Cijendil Village, Cugenang District, Cianjur. Besides delivering compensation, the VP also distributed 2.000 grocery packages to the affected people of Cianjur earthquake.
In her statement to the media, the Minister of Social Affairs called the families to spend their money on essential needs and, if possible, save the money.
“Food, for example, is provided by the emergency kitchen so that they do not have to provide it by themselves. Then, save the money,” Risma said at Jagaraksa WarunGkondang on Wednesday (4/1).
During her visit to Warungkondang, Risma checked the compensation distribution process. The compensation was delivered through cash transfer, which transfers the money to the beneficiaries bank account.
Ministry of Social Affairs provided officers to verify the data and help the beneficiaries open their new bank accounts and withdraw the money at ATM.
By receiving assistance from the government, Risma wanted people to be empowered and able to earn their own money, although they stayed at a shelter. “That is why we teach them how to earn a living through Dapur Kreasi (Creation Kitchen),” she said.
MoSA, said Minister, has taught people at the shelter to manage their need. This is an effort to anticipate if the emergency response period is ended.
“Tagana has given training to men and women in this area so that they become independent. We’re providing the need, but they can manage it on their own,” said former Surabaya Mayor.
Since the earthquake hit Cianjur, MoSA has assigned more than 1.600 personnel from its technical unit. Furthermore, more than 600 tagana were posted in some evacuation shelters. The Tagana were deployed from some provinces, such as East Java, Banten, West Java, DKI Jakarta, Central Java, and Lampung.
Meanwhile, before meeting the VP, Risma took her time to see the current condition of people affected by the earthquake in Kampung Gunung Lanjung Cijendil Village Cugenang District. With the local community and Tagana, Risma set up a tent for the shared kitchen.
Currently, residents still stay in emergency tents near their houses. Seeing this, Risma planned to build a temporary house that would be built with cooperation with tagana and the community. She hoped the plan could be started soon.
