SUKABUMI (16 July 2021) – In line with Social Minister Tri Rismaharini directives, each Ministry of Social Affairs' Center must respond to information related to social problems occurring in the community. Phala Martha Center Sukabumi evacuated "SL", 37 years old, a resident of Cianjur, who has a mental disorder, to get medical treatment at the Marzoeki Mahdi Mental Hospital, Bogor.
"We received information from the community that there was a person with mental disorder got stocks (isolation of a person suffering from mental problem, often tied with rope/chain). We dispatched an emergency response team from social workers and social counselors," said Head of the Phala Center Martha Sukabumi, Cup Santo, Friday (16/7/2021).
Social workers and social counserlors with Social Welfare Institution (LKS) Rumah Pulih Jiwa quickly went to SL's house in Selakopi Village, Pamoyanan District, Cianjur Regency.
Previously, SL was locked in a dirty small room littered with garbage and in a very poor conditions for decades.
“SL was locked in his room for about 20 years because he often left the house. His mother, who is elderly, is having a hard time keeping an eye on SL," said the head of RT Selakopi Village, Asep Suryana.
The condition is exacerbated by the poor economy of SL's mother, who is only being a laundress but because she is getting older, she is no longer able to work.
"They only depend on gifts from neighbors around the house to meet their daily needs," said Asep.
Phala Martha Center Social Worker, Kusman said that Phala Martha Center evacuated SL to receive medical treatment at the Marzoeki Mahdi Mental Hospital, Bogor.
"After receiving medical treatment at the hospital, SL will receive ATENSI (Social Rehabilitation Assistance) from Phala Martha Center services collaborating with LKS Rumah Pulih Jiwa," added Kusman.
Phala Martha Center is the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Ministry of Social Affairs in charge of providing direct social rehabilitation assistance (ATENSI) services to People with Mental Disabilities (PDM) or People with Mental Disorder (ODGJ). Starting in 2021, Phala Martha Center uses family, community and residential-based approaches in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Number 16 Year 2020.
