BANDUNG (21 May 2023) – Ahead of the 27th National Elderly Day (HLUN) commemoration, the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) through the Wyata Guna Bandung Center is conducting a Free Health Checkup and Calisthenics program for elderly residents residing near the center.

These elderly residents from Pasir Kaliki Village, Cicendo District, Bandung City look enthusiastic about following the instructor’s simple movements in the center yard. Meanwhile, Sentra Wyata Guna is partnering with Pasir Kaliki Village and Pasir Kaliki Community Health Center to deliver health screenings to 30 elderly participants.

In addition to health and exercise services, the elderly attendees also received Social Assistance (ATENSI) in the form of basic food and nutritional packages.  The aim is to instill a sense of care and support among the elderly, as expressed by Mak Engkoh Komariah (62), a grateful participant who shared, "Atuh da tos teu gaduh cep abi mah (I don't have anything anymore), thank God, to the Ministry of Social Affairs, too. I’m very grateful," during an interview at the Wyata Guna Center on Friday (19/5).

The Head of the Wyata Guna Center in Bandung, Iri Sapria, emphasized that HLUN activities serve as a significant opportunity for both the community and the government to enhance the well-being of the elderly. In 2023, HLUN will be centralized in Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra Province. Previously, it was held in Tasikmalaya, West Java.

“HLUN will be centralized in Dharmasraya Regency, with the Wyata Guna team overseeing activities in Timpeh District. These activities include a diverse range, from marriage registrations to cataract tests, culminating in Elderly Day on 29 May,” he said.

MoSA has strategically deployed technical units across Indonesia to collectively celebrate HLUN in 11 sub-districts, with a focal event in the capital of Dharmasraya Regency. The HLUN series, initiated at the beginning of May, involves a comprehensive assessment to identify the issues and potential of the elderly population in Dharmasraya.
