SITUBONDO (March 31st, 2024) – Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini was paying special attention to cases of parental violence against children under five in Patokan Village, Situbondo District, Situbondo Regency, East Java Province. This is a form of the Minister's affection for residents so that they can live prosperously.

With an approach through direct meeting with victim and family who had problems, the Minister wanted to devote her attention and assistance to find solutions to the social problems they face.

The case, which was triggered by a disharmonious relationship between husband and wife, had an impact on their children who lived under pressure.

In fact, one of their children with the initial K (2) became an object for his father's anger as he had no access to open his wife’s social media accounts. His wife was a migrant worker in Singapore. The video of the violence went viral and became a topic of conversation among the public.

This condition was first noticed by the Ministry of Social Affairs' (MoSA) media scanning team. MoSA also took the time to see directly the condition of the child and her family.

In the modest house where they lived, the Minister, in a trembling voice, asked the perpetrator to promise not to repeat his actions and to protect his child.

"I ask you to promise not to repeat this action. I know this incident has been resolved, but I don't want to stop there. I want you not to repeat it. I will give you a chance to work," said her.

She also promised to bring the perpetrator's wife home from Singapore. However, she asked not to fight again and bring up the past when they got back together. It was hoped that both of them could work through training at MoSA's Center in Bali.

"I will try to ensure that your wife can return home from Singapore. I will bear the costs. But, promise me not to repeat the mistakes and bring up the past. You must come back together, work for your children," she continued.

The perpetrator, whose name is Sandy, was speechless. He nodded his head once in a while as a sign of his agreement towards the steps taken by the Minister for his family. His lips trembled when he said thank you while hugging his two children, who were often the objects of his anger.

"Thank you. I promise not to repeat my (mistake) again," said him.

Even though this case had been handled by the local police and resolved amicably, MoSA was still trying to provide assistance and assistance.

As a result of assessments by "Mahatmiya" Center in Bali, both children were in good condition. Meanwhile, the results of the police examination of the perpetrator's condition were stated to be normal and he was not experiencing mental disorders. However, according to local residents, the perpetrator was known to easily get mad. Economic conditions also added to the burden on his life so that his emotions became unstable.

Not only visiting, the Minister also brought Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) assistance for children (victims) in the form of nutrition, personal hygiene equipment, diapers, dolls and toys. The Minister also provided assistance to the victim's grandfather in the form of basic necessities and personal hygiene equipment.
